This stainless steel product is commonly used in installations where it is necessary to change the direction of the pipeline. The raw material from which the seamless stainless elbows are made makes the welding of these parts not a difficult task. The products come in a wide range of diameters and are made of high-quality steel.
The stainless steel 45 degree butt weld elbow is a pipe fitting that is attached to two pieces of pipe to allow a change in direction. Stainless steel butt weld elbows can come in various degrees of angles and schedules. The most common angles available are 45 degree elbows and 90 degree elbows. 90 degree elbows are available in long radius and short radius. The schedule corresponds to the wall thickness of the pipe. The function of a pipe is to carry gasses or fluids under pressure. Therefore, the ID, or internal diameter of the butt weld elbow is a major dimension of the pipe. A pipe's outside diameter (OD) remains comparatively constant for all pipe sizes. It is the inside diameter's (ID) bore size that is reduced as the schedule or wall thickness increases.
AS 1528.1 specifies standard nominal thicknesses of 1.6mm for all ODs except 2.0mm for 203.2mm OD; other non-standard thicknesses can be specified by purchasers. The standard tolerance is +nil, -0.10mm. The all-minus tolerance recognises the usual practice for tube, to all specifications, to be produced towards the lower limit of the tolerance range. A range of between 1.52 and 1.58mm is typical. Slightly wider tolerances apply to the complimentary tube fittings covered by the other parts of AS 1528.
